My Name is Sylvia McIntosh, I’m an experienced dressmaker and designer, working from my home in Birmingham. My business has been established here for over 30 years.
I specialize in very high quality garments, ranging from Bridal Wear to Evening, Business Wear to Smart Casual clothing. Every item is hand cut and sewn to create a unique garment made-for-you clothes which will fit you perfectly, flatter the figure and applaud your true style.
The costs will depend on the design and the fabrics required. A deposit is required this is fifty per cent of the total cost of the garment, this covers the fabrics required for your garment, the pattern and toile construction.
REPAIRS & ALTERATIONS
Clothing Alterations is another popular service offered by Sylvia McIntosh. I specialise in all aspects of alterations from men’s and ladies clothing. From Shortening trousers, altering skirts, dresses and jackets or simply replacing a zip.
My clothing repair and alteration service is available for trade customers, businesses and the general public. Prices may vary due to the complexity of the job, an extra charge would apply to evening wear, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses etc.
WEDDINGS
I will help you create the perfect look and fit for your wedding. If you have seen the top half of a dress that you liked but didn’t like the skirt or maybe there was a distinct style that you fancied, together we can create your perfect dress.
I can visit you in the privacy of your own home*, or alternatively you can come to me. If you have already bought your dress but it needs to be taken in, let out, shortened, lengthened or altered. Do not worry contact me and we can discuss your needs.

BE YOUR OWN DESIGNER
If you have seen something you would like made, bring a photo or draw a picture of it and I will make it especially to fit all your curves, lumps and bumps perfectly. Many of my customers see an outfit that a celebrity has worn on the red carpet or a dress in a magazine but they want to add sleeves or a certain fabric, etc.
All I need to see is the photo and how you would like it adapted. I will tell you what works and what doesn’t for your shape. I usually put the garment together and call you back for a fitting before finalising the outfit.
No job is too big or too small.
You will look and feel unique when you wear your own designed outfit that no one else has.

OUT SIZES
Outsize is a silly term, as very few ladies find themselves to be of a standard size.
Perhaps you require a different size for top and bottom, perhaps you are larger than a size 20 or smaller than a size 8, or maybe shorter or taller than what the industry deems as “standard”.
For a lot of ladies it makes sense to have a small range of clothes made to measure rather than buying ill fitting clothes off the peg. I have regular clients who get a few pieces made for each season. By having clothes that fit your perfectly you will look and feel amazing.
I am happy to work with pieces you might already have, to make them more wearable.
